Explore the beauty that awaits you in this concert on hope, loss, and inspiration featuring chamber orchestra and soloists. Peninsula Cantare will sing John Corigliano’s stunning setting of the Dylan Thomas poem Fern Hill and Nathaniel Dett’s exciting Chariot Jubilee, which intertwines familiar African-American spirituals with new music for choir & orchestra. Plus, you’ll hear the world premiere of Andrea Ramsey’s setting of the Sara Teasdale poem “Winter Stars,” newly commissioned by Peninsula Cantare.
Celebrate all of the queens in your life with Mozart’s majestic music for chorus and orchestra. Peninsula Cantare kicks off our season finale with Mozart’s Regina Coeli and Coronation Mass alongside one of Handel’s Coronation Anthems, Zadok the Priest. Plus, the second half of the program will be devoted to music written by female-identified composers. We might even sing a little Queen and Freddie Mercury before we depart for our Summer Concert Tour through Spain & Portugal!
